Romana Porumb graduated from the Prins Claus Conservatorium, Groningen in June 2009 where she studied with Florian Donderer, Veselina Manikova en Kati Sebestyen. She has followed masterclasses with Bogdan Zvoristeanu, Paul Florin, Jaring Walta, Maurizio Fuks, Thomas Klug, Ronald Hoogeveen, Joris van Rijn and Roland Daugareil. She was concertmaster and soloist with the Groningen student orchestra Mira and currently plays with the North Netherlands Orchestra, Ardesko Chamber Ochestra, Noordpool Orkest, Sebes Ensemble and Amber Ensemble.
Since 2007 Romana has been teaching violin at the Prins Claus Conservatorium, in Groningen, and from 2012 she is also Coordinator of the Young Talent Class. She plays a Stradivarius model violin, built in 2008 by violinmaker Hendrik Woldring (Groningen, The Netherlands).
Romana is also a prolific visual artist working in many different mediums. Her work draws inspiration from her long love of music, and the areas surrounding her home in Groningen. Please take the time to enjoy her a selection of her work in the portfolio section of this site.
